"Final Landing" is a depiction of a bird of prey flying and landing. If you look closely you will see that part of the bird’s skull is exposed. This shows a bird that is growing old and slowly giving way to the next life. With that, the bird still wants to fly, be free and feel young. This Eagle represents the spiritual part of our life.

This sculpture has several messages to give. Traveling we have all seen birds of prey perched on a fence post or telephone pole, sitting there majestically looking over its territory. This sculpture's eyes and feathers have coral and turquoise inlay fashioned after Northwest Indian Totems. The bird's perch is created by interweaving wood and stone. Each median compliments the other enhancing the beauty of this piece.
This sculpture is made of several woods that have some of the same color tones. The majority of wood used is Lacewood. Following its grain as the piece bends and flows into different surfaces gives way to many interesting exposers of the wood’s personality. By using woods that blend together, I am intending to have the viewer explore the shapes within the sculpture, not just the grains and colors of the wood. All the facets and angles offer new interpretation and experience to be contemplated.
This sculpture is a glimpse of Monument Valley with its sandstone spires reaching to the sky and giving a spiritual feeling of being temples in the landscape. Each made of different woods represent different types of sandstone. Also imbedded into each spiral is a mark of the Navajo spirit world. View, enjoy and get lost in its upward movement, taking you to a world above ours.
