An "Indian Plateau" is a place that a Native American would spend time by himself for a few moments of solitude, feel the bond with his surroundings and to give thanks for the things given to him by nature. A place where he felt the spirit of his ancestors, reminding him that he is part of something greater.
The layers of stone in this sculpture represent many years of ancestors (a chronological order of life weathered by centuries of wind and rain). As in all things, nothing stands alone. Flowing with elements of nature adds to its depth of character. The intertwining Walnut accents and supports this sculpture.
This sculpture represents the Patriarchs that exist within all species. During our lives, each person develops their own values and what they stand for. The lighter Lacewood represents different patriarchs. In their lives, their values, character and spiritual strength are what give them purpose. Upon death, their values become their epitaph. The lower figures are topped with Padauk wood, representing their tombstones. The Lacewood on top of the piece is the reigning patriarch and she stands on what her spirit has made her.
Medium: Bavarian Walnut and Rosewood with Moab Sandstone Sphere and Liquid Copper

Essenes is a story of life. From the core of the mother comes the Essenes that she gives to new life that makes it what it is and will be. One generation gives what it has created to the next generation and so on, and so on. Not just things but spirit and heart.
This beautiful piece of sandstone is complimented with wood to move with the patterns in the sandstone and become one.
Trophy tells a story of the elk and it's life. The male lives to dominate over the younger males and to have as many females in his herd as possible. Even after death, the elk as well man, takes with him his Essenes. Takes with him what is at his core even as his body withers and his bone appear.
